Bitcoin keeps the $76,500 to $78,300 range it has held all week and nothing resolves before the Sep 16 Fed, but the leverage deck is no longer cheap: OKX funding re-crowded overnight from 0.0033% to 0.0062% per 8h (64th percentile of 90 days) with price flat, and Hyperliquid flipped to longs paying shorts.

The range read stands; the cheap-funding read does not.

Funding's Warning Fades as Oil and Rates Still Set the Terms

The clearest thing that happened since Friday is what did not hold. On Saturday afternoon, funding on OKX's bitcoin perpetual swap had climbed to 0.01% per eight hours, the 89th percentile of the last 90 days, and the previous revision stopped all new buying, saying the next read would decide whether the cost of leverage held there or faded. It faded. The same contract now prints 0.0049% per eight hours, the median of its own 90-day history, with price unchanged near $77,300. A pause built on one touch of a threshold rather than a sustained rise no longer has the evidence it was built on. That resolves a small question, not the large one. Oil is the loudest unanswered fact in the tape: West Texas Intermediate at $100.05 a barrel and Brent at $104.61, up roughly 9.6% and 9.5% on the week, with no dateable supply disruption, sanctions step or shipping event retrieved to explain the move. Rates have shifted for their own reasons. The 10-year Treasury yield is 4.97%, up 21 basis points on the week, while the Federal Reserve's effective funds rate sits unchanged at 3.63%. Markets have repriced; policy has not. Bitcoin is up 22.6% over the month but flat to lower on the week.

Outlook: unchanged; confidence: moderate

Bitcoin keeps the $76,500 to $78,300 range it has held all week and nothing resolves before the Sep 16 Fed, but the leverage deck is no longer cheap: OKX funding re-crowded overnight from 0.0033% to 0.0062% per 8h (64th percentile of 90 days) with price flat, and Hyperliquid flipped to longs paying shorts. The range read stands; the cheap-funding read does not.

Opens against Fri Sep 11's end-of-day brief, which read a cheap leverage deck (OKX funding 0.0033% per 8h, 36th percentile) inside a $76,500 to $78,300 range. Overnight funding re-crowded to 0.0062% per 8h (64th percentile) at a flat price and Hyperliquid flipped to longs paying shorts, so the cheap-deck leg of that call is reversed and the thesis moves to weakened; the range and the $78,300 and $76,500 alerts are unchanged.

What to do about it

Hold core spot, carry no perp leverage into the Fed, alerts at $78,300 and $76,500, ladder bids at $74,000 and $72,000, and stop all adds if funding crosses 0.01% per 8h.

The big picture

Opens against Fri Sep 11's end-of-day brief, which read a cheap leverage deck (OKX funding 0.0033% per 8h, 36th percentile) inside a $76,500 to $78,300 range. Overnight funding re-crowded to 0.0062% per 8h (64th percentile) at a flat price and Hyperliquid flipped to longs paying shorts, so the cheap-deck leg of that call is reversed and the thesis moves to weakened; the range and the $78,300 and $76,500 alerts are unchanged.

Outlook: weakened. Confidence: moderate.

The continuing story

The week's real story is oil and rates, not Bitcoin. WTI sits back at $100.05, +9.6% on the week and +20.2% on the month, with Brent at $104.61, while the 10-year is 4.97%, +21bp on the week against a funds rate pinned at 3.63%. A rising oil price feeds the inflation impulse that keeps the long end high, and a high long end raises the return on cash, which is a direct drag on an asset that pays nothing.

No retrieved reporting names a single dominant catalyst for Bitcoin, so the oil-and-rates impulse is the best available explanation for why it is flat while equities and its own monthly chart say otherwise [HYPOTHESIS]. The mechanism points the same way either way: the Sep 16 Fed is where the range gets settled, and the tape between now and then is a thin weekend book where funding swings on little volume [INFERRED].

Between Thursday's close and Saturday afternoon, OKX funding rose in four steps, from 0.0033% to exactly 0.01% per eight hours, at a flat price and slightly lower covered open interest. The prior revision read that as existing longs paying more rent into a binary Federal Reserve meeting and stood spot buying down. One read of a threshold is not a sustained condition. Hyperliquid still pays longs at roughly 0.01% per eight hours while OKX has more than halved, so the two venues no longer agree, and Glassnode's cross-exchange mean perpetual funding as of Sep 11 clustered close to neutral across venues.no longer here

The arithmetic also corrected an earlier inference. Covered market-wide open interest rose from $63.67B to $64.01B, so the prior claim that positions were quietly trimming had no support and is dropped rather than carried. What remains untested is whether real capital sits behind the move: no spot ETF flow, stablecoin issuance, exchange-flow, options or liquidation data was retrieved this run, leaving two derivatives venues as the whole positioning picture. A third-party ticker quoting bitcoin near $64,741 conflicts with the observed $77,285 and is treated as stale or mis-dated, not as evidence.no longer here

How it transmits

  1. The 10-year is 4.97%, +21bp on the week, while the effective funds rate sits flat at 3.63%: market rates repriced, policy did not.
  2. WTI at $100.05, +9.6% on the week and +20.2% on the month, keeps the inflation impulse alive, which is why the long end stays elevated rather than fading.
  3. The dollar index is 99.1, flat on the week, and gold $4,408.90, -1.8% on the week: no dollar or haven confirmation of a fresh risk-off impulse.
  4. The S&P closed +0.9% and the Nasdaq +1.0% risk-on, yet Bitcoin closed flat under its pivot, so the equity bid is still not reaching crypto.
  5. Implication: Bitcoin ranges into the Sep 16 Fed unless the 10-year tops 5.00% (headwind) or spot demand returns (tailwind).

  1. The cross-asset split is itself the information. Equities are pricing a benign path, with the S&P 500 at 7,656.98, up 0.9% on Friday, and the Nasdaq Composite at 26,333.04, up 1.0%. Oil is pricing scarcity or risk and the Treasury market a firmer-for-longer policy path, while bitcoin prices none of it; ether, at $2,525.58, has gained 34.2% on the month against bitcoin's 22.6%. The dollar is flat at 99.1 and gold down 1.8% on the week, so no haven bid and no dollar panic appeared, which is why the drag on bitcoin reads as crypto positioning rather than macro de-risking. The oil link stays a hypothesis: with no dated cause, its inflation consequence is inferred rather than measured, and a 10-year above 5.00% would be the level at which the rates headwind stops being background.no longer here

      Against the call

      • Funding roughly doubled overnight, 0.0033% to 0.0062% per 8h, at a flat price: longs are paying up again into a binary Fed, which is the crowding signature the prior brief said would force a stand-down.
      • Both watched venues now lean long-paying after Hyperliquid flipped from -0.00005% to +0.00109% per hour, so the 'neither side crowded' read has no venue left to stand on.
      • The 10-year at 4.97%, +21bp on the week, with WTI at $100.05 and +9.6% on the week, keeps a rates-and-oil headwind under an asset that is +21.6% on the month.

          The implications

          1. Hold core spot; carry no perp leverage into the Sep 16 Fed.

          5. Expression is spot or flat: no dated IV or skew exists in the record, so no options structure can be justified and shorting a range into the Fed is not the trade.

Execution riskElevated: a binary Fed four days out, funding re-crowding on a thin weekend book, and no spot data to test the move, which is exactly the setup where excess leverage gets chopped out before the range resolves, even if the range call is right.

            - Quantority venue funding APRs (Binance +6.04%, Bybit +7.51%, Bitget +8.87%, OKX +8.28%) unverified and not a live cross-venue read; the OBSERVED 0.0062%/8h (~6.8% annualised) decides where they overlap.
            - Pandabull OKX funding 0.01%, APY 10.95%, superseded by the OBSERVED 0.0062%/8h; losing claim C [pandabull.io, https://pandabull.io/perpetuals-funding/okx/BTC-USDT-SWAP].
            - Solariaworld Binance 0.0097%, Bybit 0.0100%, OKX 0.0077% per 8h undated and not scorable against the OBSERVED print; do not substitute OKX 0.0077% for 0.0062%; losing claim B and C [data.solariaworld.com, https://data.solariaworld.com/openinterest/BTCUSDT].
            - Kraken PF_XBTUSD funding 43.2113% rejected as a mislabeled venue row; losing claim C.
            - Damage to the prior thesis: split, not one claim. The direction (funding up from 0.0033% to 0.0062%) is a real change; the level stays under the 0.01% stand-down trigger, so the range read is not broken yet.
            - "The one story": the oil-and-rates tension is OBSERVED and a valid INFERRED candidate, but no retrieved reporting names a dominant catalyst, so no sourced story is established; losing claim B.
            - Market-wide OI total: the $42B-$43B two-page cluster stands as the best scale estimate, but both pages are undated, so it stays UNKNOWN for decision use; losing claim C (treating $43B as established).

            ## Bitcoin structure
            - BTC $77,226.5, 1d 0%, 1w -3.3%, 1m +21.6% [OBSERVED, Binance spot BTCUSDT, close 2026-09-12]. Essentially flat vs the prior brief's close of $77,199.73 [prior state].
            - Range $76,500 to $78,300 and the $80,000 weekly lower-high ceiling: no new structural data contradicts them; carried from prior state [DERIVED].
            - BTC dominance, realized vol, VWAPs, major MAs, spot volume, on-chain: UNKNOWN.
            - Third-party price prints conflict with OBSERVED and appear stale: MarginPad shows BTC $64,259 [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/); CoinBoss shows $76,959 [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC). Trust the OBSERVED $77,226.5.

            ## Derivatives and positioning
            - OKX BTC-USDT perp funding 0.0062% now; 7d avg 0.0042%; 64th percentile of the last 90 days [OBSERVED, OKX perp]. Note the change: up from 0.0033% (36th pct) at the prior close. Funding is creeping back up but stays under the 0.01% stand-down trigger.
            - OKX OI $2.11B, 7d -1.9% [OBSERVED, OKX perp]. Prior state $2.09B; a small uptick but the week still drains.
            - Hyperliquid BTC perp funding +0.00109% per hour (positive), OI $2.76B, mark $77,200 [OBSERVED, Hyperliquid]. Prior state had Hyperliquid funding -0.00005%/hr, so it flipped from marginally negative to positive.
            - Sharpe Terminal OI table: Binance $8.47B, Gate $4.51B, Bybit $4.31B, MEXC $3.74B, Hyperliquid $2.80B, Bitget $2.62B, HTX $2.32B, OKX $2.11B [sharpe.ai](https://www.sharpe.ai/futures/bitcoin). OKX $2.11B matches OBSERVED, lending the table some credibility.
            - CoinBoss aggregate: $43.18B across 22 exchanges, 24h -0.16%, Binance share 18.98%, CME $8.44B [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC). Conflicts with Quantority's $18.36B / +4.0% 24h [quantority.com](https://quantority.com/open-interest/BTC). The two disagree on scope; neither is confirmed. Market-wide OI remains contested.
            - Quantority venue funding APR: Binance +6.04%, Bybit +7.51%, Bitget +8.87%, OKX +8.28% [quantority.com](https://quantority.com/open-interest/BTC). OKX 8.28% APR roughly annualizes the OBSERVED 0.0062%/8h (~6.8%), so this row is in the same neighborhood but not exact.
            - MarginPad: aggregated funding +0.0032%, OI $28.96B, account positioning 60.5% long vs 39.5% short, 24h liquidations $25.9M (longs $21.6M vs shorts $4.3M), long-liq band near $62,050, short-liq band near $65,650 [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/). Price ($64,259) and liq bands (~$62K-$65K) sit far below OBSERVED $77,226, so this page reads stale; the 60.5%-long account skew and the $25.9M/24h liquidation figure are not reliable for the current tape.
            - Current liquidation dollars (BTC + market-wide), futures/spot CVD, basis, perp premium: UNKNOWN.
            - Third-party funding methodology reference only, no live number: [satoshimacro.com](https://satoshimacro.com/tools/crypto/derivatives/btc-funding-rate/), [satoshimacro.com](https://satoshimacro.com/tools/crypto/derivatives/btc-open-interest/).

            - Stablecoin issuance/contraction: UNKNOWN.
            - Exchange in/outflows: UNKNOWN.
            - Spot volume and spot CVD: UNKNOWN. No search result provided usable spot flow data.
            - Whether real capital is entering cannot be tested this session; this is the same gap flagged in the prior state's gaps.

            ## Options
            - All options data: UNKNOWN. IV, realized vol, IV vs RV, term structure, skew, put/call demand, strike concentration, Sep 16 event-vol pricing, expected move: none found.
            - Consequence: no dated options number exists, so no options structure can be named in the brief's posture.

            ## Calendar (with consensus and prior, from OBSERVED snapshot)
Past week, actuals not carried in the snapshot and not confirmed by search, so all mark UNKNOWN:
            - Wed 2026-09-09 21:15 ET USD President Trump speaks (Medium). Forecast/prev actual: n/a.

            - Fri 2026-09-11 10:00 ET USD Prelim UoM Consumer Sentiment (Medium), forecast 51.0, prior 51.0, actual UNKNOWN; UoM Inflation Expectations prior 4.3%, actual UNKNOWN.
            Ahead:
            - Wed 2026-09-16 14:00 ET FOMC rate decision (High) [OBSERVED calendar]. Consensus and prior not carried: UNKNOWN.
            - No other high-impact event inside the next 7 days appears in the snapshot.

            ## The one story
            - Not resolvable from this session's data. The only tape-level tension: equities closed risk-on (S&P +0.9%, Nasdaq +1.0%) while BTC sits flat and -3.3% on the week, and oil is +20% on the month with the 10Y +21bp into a Sep 16 Fed [OBSERVED]. Candidate story is the crypto-specific drag versus a risk-on, oil-and-rates-charged macro, not a fresh news event. No search result identified a dominant single news catalyst; mark the "one story" UNKNOWN pending a news search, or use the divergence above.

            ## Anomalies
            - OKX funding rose 0.0033% → 0.0062% per 8h (36th → 64th percentile) while OI moved only $2.09B → $2.11B and price stayed flat: longs paying slightly more carry without meaningful new positions. Early re-crowding, still under the 0.01% trigger [DERIVED from OBSERVED].
            - Hyperliquid funding flipped from -0.00005%/hr to +0.00109%/hr: the marginal short-paying-long regime ended; longs now pay there too [OBSERVED].
            - Equities risk-on + oil +20% on the month + 10Y +21bp, yet BTC flat: continued macro/crypto divergence [OBSERVED].
            - Third-party aggregate OI ranges from $18.36B to $43.18B to $28.96B depending on venue scope; market-wide OI is unverifiable this session [Multiple web sources conflict].
            - MarginPad's price and liquidation bands sit ~15-20% below spot, indicating a stale page; do not use its liquidation map [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/).

            ## What contradicts the previous thesis
            - Prior thesis: BTC ranges $76,500-$78,300 into the Fed with leverage draining (OKX funding 0.0033%/8h, 36th pct; OI $2.09B, -1.9% wk). WEAKENED on the funding leg: funding is now 0.0062% at the 64th percentile, so the "leverage draining / neither side crowded" read no longer holds cleanly; longs are paying up again. OI still -1.9% on the week keeps the drain half intact [OBSERVED vs prior state].
            - Prior watch "stand down if OKX funding above 0.01% per 8h": not triggered at 0.0062%, but the distance to the trigger narrowed sharply [DERIVED].
            - Prior watch "10Y above 5.00% = headwind": not triggered at 4.97%, but +21bp on the week and oil +20% on the month put it close, an unresolved hawkish input into Sep 16 [OBSERVED].
            - Prior conflict "no spot or options data": unchanged; still UNKNOWN, so the deleveraging-versus-distribution question stays open.
            - Funding rising into a flat, low-volume weekend tape is the kind of thin-book artifact the prior state warned about; treat the 0.0062% as partially weekend noise, not confirmed re-crowding [INFERRED].

            - Prior brief at close had OKX funding 0.0033% per 8h at the 36th percentile; the snapshot is higher in both level and percentile, i.e. funding re-crowding toward longs [OBSERVED, diff vs prior state].
            - OKX BTC-USDT OI $2.11B, -1.9% on the week [OBSERVED, OKX perp]. Prior brief had $2.09B; marginal rise vs slight drain.
            - Hyperliquid BTC perp funding 0.00109% per hour (positive, longs paying), OI $2.76B, mark $77,200 [OBSERVED, Hyperliquid]. Prior read was -0.00005%/hr (shorts paying); sign has flipped positive [OBSERVED, diff].
            - Market-wide OI: conflicting and undated. CoinBoss shows total OI $43.18B, 24h -0.16%, price $76,959 [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC); Sharpe Terminal shows Binance OI $8.47B / 22.9% share, undated [sharpe.ai](https://www.sharpe.ai/futures/bitcoin); Quantority shows $18.36B total, +4.0% 24h / +11% 7d [quantority.com](https://quantority.com/open-interest/BTC); Solariaworld shows Binance $7.03B, Bybit $3.90B, OKX $2.09B [data.solariaworld.com](https://data.solariaworld.com/openinterest/BTCUSDT). These conflict on total scale and carry no reliable timestamp; treat market-wide OI as UNKNOWN.

            - Liquidation dollars: UNKNOWN for the current session. MarginPad archive cites $228.6M liquidated over 7 days to its snapshot, heaviest day Aug 17 at $74.6M, split ~46/54 longs/shorts [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/) — dated to Aug, stale for today.
            - Funding context: SatoshiMacro notes a single 8h print of 0.05% is noise; a 7-day mean above 0.05% is the crowding signal [satoshimacro.com](https://satoshimacro.com/tools/crypto/derivatives/btc-funding-rate/). Current 7d avg 0.0042% is far under that [DERIVED].
            - Spot-vs-leverage: price flat, OKX OI flat-to-slightly-up, funding modestly higher and now positive on Hyperliquid = mild re-leveraging, not a spot-led move; spot flows UNKNOWN so attribution stays mixed [DERIVED/INFERRED].

            ## Capital flows (incl. spot ETF)
            - Spot bitcoin ETF flows: UNKNOWN (nothing current found).
            - Stablecoin issuance/redemption: UNKNOWN.

            - No flow data exists in the record, so whether real capital is entering cannot be tested [UNKNOWN].

            ## Options
            - IV, IV vs realized, term structure, skew, put/call demand, strike concentration, key expiries, Sep 16 event-vol pricing: all UNKNOWN.
            - Deribit BTC-PERPETUAL OI $824.34M shown by CoinBoss, undated [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC); not enough to price direction or vol.

            ## Calendar (OBSERVED, with consensus and prior)
            - Sep 09 21:15 ET — USD President Trump Speaks (Medium); forecast/previous n/a [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 10 08:15 ET — EUR Main Refinancing Rate: forecast 2.65%, prior 2.40% [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 10 08:30 ET — USD Core PPI m/m: forecast 0.3%, prior 0.2%; PPI m/m forecast 0.4%, prior 0.0% [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 10 08:30 ET — USD Unemployment Claims: forecast 205K, prior 206K [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 11 02:00 ET — GBP GDP m/m: forecast 0.0%, prior 0.3% [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 11 08:30 ET — USD CPI set: Core CPI m/m 0.2%/0.2%, Core CPI y/y 2.4%/2.5%, CPI m/m 0.4%/0.1%, CPI y/y 3.4%/3.4% (forecast/prior) [OBSERVED].
            - Sep 11 10:00 ET — USD Prelim UoM Consumer Sentiment: forecast 51.0, prior 51.0 [OBSERVED].
            - All above actuals: UNKNOWN in the snapshot.
            - Forward: FOMC decision Wed Sep 16, 2:00 PM ET — carried from the prior brief, NOT present in the OBSERVED calendar; consensus and CME odds UNKNOWN.

            ## The one story
            - Energy and rates, not crypto: WTI through $100 (+9.6% on the week, +20.2% on the month) and the 10-year at 4.97% (+21 bp on the week) into a Sep 16 Fed with no visible odds priced, while equities closed risk-on and BTC sat flat [OBSERVED]. Oil-led inflation risk plus a repricing long end is the transmission that most plausibly explains BTC lagging a +21.6% month [INFERRED].

            ## Anomalies
            - Funding percentile moved 36 → 64 in the hours around the close while price barely moved and OI stayed flat: mild long re-crowding with no price confirmation [OBSERVED, diff].
            - Hyperliquid perp funding flipped from negative (-0.00005%/hr, shorts paying) to positive (+0.00109%/hr, longs paying) [OBSERVED, diff] — the "nobody crowded" read is softening.
            - Equities risk-on, BTC flat, even as BTC is +21.6% on the month vs S&P -1.2%: the drag is crypto-specific rather than macro [INFERRED, prior-state framing].
            - Third-party OI totals range $18B to $43B with no timestamps; the scale disagreement is unresolved and blocks a market-wide leverage read [UNKNOWN/conflicting].

            ## What contradicts the previous thesis
            - Prior thesis: leverage draining, funding cheap, OKX 0.0033% at 36th percentile, OI -1.9% on the week. New OBSERVED funding 0.0062% at 64th percentile and Hyperliquid flipped to positive = the "no re-crowding" leg is WEAKENED [OBSERVED, diff].
            - OKX OI $2.09B → $2.11B is a marginal rebuild, not continued drain; the "leverage keeps draining" leg is WEAKENED [OBSERVED, diff].
            - The $76,500 to $78,300 range, equities risk-on vs BTC lag, and the 10-year headwind all stand unchanged from the prior state [OBSERVED].
            - Everything flow- and options-based (ETF, stablecoins, exchange flows, IV, skew, Sep 16 event vol) remains UNKNOWN, so the deleveraging-versus-re-crowding question cannot be settled on spot or options evidence [UNKNOWN].
            - Main missing evidence: current ETF flows, market-wide OI with a timestamp, and Sep 16 Fed pricing. These block a higher-confidence positioning call.

**Source-quality warning up front:** the search returned mostly aggregator/scraper pages carrying wildly conflicting prices ($64,259 to $77,226), open interest ($16B to $46,000B) and funding. Several are stale or mis-scaled (one venue row shows Deribit OI at "$45,953.88B"). Treat all of it as secondary. The OBSERVED snapshot remains the top of the source order. No primary sources (Fed, Treasury, exchange, issuer) came back in these results.

            ## Macro plumbing

            - One secondary page quotes BTC at $64,259 and "49% below its all-time high of $126,080 (set in 2025)" [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/) — inconsistent with every other source and with OBSERVED spot; treat that page's levels as stale.
            - No weekly/daily MA, VWAP, realized-vol, dominance or alt-breadth data returned. UNKNOWN.

            ## Derivatives and positioning

            - Hyperliquid BTC perp funding 0.00109% per hour (≈0.026%/8h), OI $2.76B, mark $77,200 [OBSERVED, Hyperliquid].
            - OKX funding listed at 0.01% current with APY 10.95%, 1d APY 14.6%, 7d APY 8.15%, 8h interval, per [pandabull.io](https://pandabull.io/perpetuals-funding/okx/BTC-USDT-SWAP) — roughly consistent with OBSERVED, dated only by fetch.
            - Binance BTCUSDT perp funding 0.0097% per 8h, Bybit 0.0100%, OKX 0.0077%, Deribit BTC-PERPETUAL 0.0000%, per [data.solariaworld.com](https://data.solariaworld.com/openinterest/BTCUSDT) — same order as OBSERVED.
            - Kraken PF_XBTUSD shows funding 43.2113% and OI $150.71M on that page; the 43% is not credible and the venue row is likely mislabeled. Do not use.
            - Aggregate OI $43.18B across 22 exchanges, 24h -0.16%; Binance $8.20B (18.98%), CME $8.44B (19.55%), Gate $5.26B, Bybit $4.33B, Hyperliquid $2.91B, OKX $2.24B, per [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC).
            - Aggregate OI $41.78B, 24h -1.12%, coins 661,964 BTC +1.59%; Binance USD-M $8.14B, MEXC $5.34B (-8.15% 24h), Bybit $4.29B, Gate $4.11B, OKX $2.63B, Hyperliquid $2.15B, per [trdesk.com](https://trdesk.com/open-interest/btc).
            - Aggregate OI $18.36B, +4.0% 24h, per [quantority.com](https://quantority.com/open-interest/BTC) — conflicts with the $41B-$43B cluster; likely a different venue set. Note the disagreement, trust the $41B-$43B cluster (two independent pages agree).
            - OI by venue from [sharpe.ai](https://www.sharpe.ai/futures/bitcoin): Binance $8.47B (22.9%), Gate $4.51B (12.2%), Bybit $4.31B (11.7%), MEXC $3.74B (10.1%), Hyperliquid $2.80B (7.6%), Bitget $2.62B (7.1%), HTX $2.32B (6.3%), OKX $2.11B (5.7%). OKX $2.11B matches OBSERVED exactly.
            - MarginPad reports OI $28.96B and funding +0.0032%, 60.5% of accounts long vs 39.5% short [marginpad.io](https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/) — but pinned to a $64k price, so internally stale.
            - Liquidations from the same stale page: 24h $25.9M (longs $21.6M, shorts $4.3M); 7d $228.6M across 16,175 liquidations, heaviest day Aug 17 at $74.6M mostly shorts; long-liq band $62,050 (~$63.3M), short-liq band $65,650 (~$57.2M). Bands are anchored to $64k and do not apply at $77k. Current liquidation dollars: UNKNOWN.

            ## Capital flows (spot ETF, stablecoins, exchange flows)
            - No spot BTC ETF flow data returned for any date. UNKNOWN.
            - No stablecoin issuance, exchange in/outflow, or institutional-proxy data returned. UNKNOWN.
            - Spot volume for the Sep 11 print: not returned. UNKNOWN.

            ## Options
            - No IV, skew, term structure, put/call, strike concentration, open interest by strike, or Sep 16 event-vol data returned. UNKNOWN.

            ## Calendar (with consensus/prior as carried in the OBSERVED snapshot)
            - Sep 9, 21:15 ET Trump speaks, medium, no consensus/prior [OBSERVED calendar].
            - Sep 10, 08:15 ET ECB Main Refinancing Rate, forecast 2.65%, prior 2.40%, actual n/a [OBSERVED calendar].
            - Sep 10, 08:30 ET Core PPI m/m forecast 0.3%, prior 0.2%; PPI m/m forecast 0.4%, prior 0.0%; claims forecast 205K, prior 206K; all actual n/a [OBSERVED calendar].
            - Sep 11, 08:30 ET Core CPI m/m forecast 0.2%, prior 0.2%; Core CPI y/y forecast 2.4%, prior 2.5%; CPI m/m forecast 0.4%, prior 0.1%; CPI y/y forecast 3.4%, prior 3.4%; all actual n/a [OBSERVED calendar].

            - Sep 16, 14:00 ET FOMC rate decision; no consensus, prior or FedWatch odds returned [from prior state; search returned nothing]. UNKNOWN.
            - Search returned no CPI/PPI actuals, no release write-ups, no Fed speaker schedule, no auction calendar. UNKNOWN.

            ## The one story
            - No news event, headline, or narrative driver appeared in the search results. The only quantitative tensions in hand are the +9.6% weekly oil move and the 10-year at 4.97%, both from OBSERVED data, not from retrieved reporting. UNKNOWN as a sourced story.

            ## Anomalies
            - OBSERVED funding rose from the EOD 0.0033% to 0.0062% per 8h at a flat price ($77,200 → $77,226) — funding creeping up with no price gain, worth watching against the prior "leverage draining" read. [OBSERVED]
            - OBSERVED aggregate OKX OI down 1.9% on the week while venue-level secondary pages show mixed 24h moves (Bitget +3.13%, Hyperliquid +4.78%, MEXC -5.05%, Kraken -13.3%) [coinboss.com](https://www.coinboss.com/open-interest/BTC) — no single direction market-wide.
            - Secondary OI aggregate pages disagree by 2.3x ($18.36B vs $41.78B/$43.18B); unresolved.
            - ETH +33.2% on the month vs BTC +21.6% [OBSERVED] — breadth/rotation divergence not explained by any retrieved source.

            ## What contradicts the previous thesis
            - Previous EOD thesis: BTC ranges $76,500-$78,300 with leverage draining, nothing resolving before Sep 16. Contradiction candidates found: none from retrieved news. OBSERVED funding ticked up (0.0033% → 0.0062%) but stays far below the 0.01% re-crowding trigger, so the "cheap deck" read holds on the OBSERVED print.
            - Secondary liquidation pages imply meaningful force-closing ($228.6M over 7d) but are anchored to a stale $64k price; cannot be used to test the "voluntary exits, not a cascade" claim. That claim stays UNCONFIRMED.
            - No ETF flow, spot volume, options or CPI/PPI actual data returned, so the prior "drag is crypto-specific" hypothesis remains untestable from this search. UNKNOWN.

            ## DISPUTE

            - MarginPad BTC $64,259, OI $28.96B, funding +0.0032%, 60.5% long accounts, long-liq band $62,050, short-liq band $65,650, 24h liquidations $25.9M, 7d $228.6M [marginpad.io/coin/btc/; held by A and C]. Ruling: rejected as stale. Its price sits ~17% below OBSERVED spot and its liq bands ~15-20% below; the page is pinned to an old tape. No liquidation figure is usable from it.
            - Quantority aggregate OI $18.36B, +4.0% 24h [quantority.com/open-interest/BTC; held by A and B]. Ruling: rejected as the outlier on venue scope; the $42B-$43B pair stands. A different venue set cannot be ruled out, but nothing supports $18.36B.
            - Quantority venue funding APRs (Binance +6.04%, Bybit +7.51%, Bitget +8.87%, OKX +8.28%) [quantority.com; held by A and B]. Ruling: unverified against the OBSERVED 0.0062%/8h (~6.8% annualised). Same neighborhood, different window; do not use as a live cross-venue read.
            - Pandabull OKX funding 0.01% current, APY 10.95% [pandabull.io/perpetuals-funding/okx/BTC-USDT-SWAP; held by C]. Ruling: superseded by the OBSERVED 0.0062%/8h. Same order, wrong print.
            - Solariaworld Binance 0.0097%, Bybit 0.0100%, OKX 0.0077% per 8h [data.solariaworld.com/openinterest/BTCUSDT; held by B and C]. Ruling: undated and near the crowding trigger; cannot be scored against the OBSERVED OKX print. Do not use OKX 0.0077% in place of 0.0062%.
            - Kraken PF_XBTUSD funding 43.2113% [held by C]. Ruling: rejected, not credible and likely a mislabeled row.
            - MarginPad long/short account skew 60.5%/39.5% [marginpad.io; held by A]. Ruling: rejected with the stale page; no dated account-ratio source exists.

            ## UNKNOWN

            - Spot BTC ETF flows, stablecoin issuance, exchange in/outflows, spot volume, spot CVD: UNKNOWN. No search returned any dated figure; real capital entry cannot be tested.
            - All options data (IV, skew, term structure, put/call, strikes, Sep 16 event vol, expected move): UNKNOWN. No dated number exists, so no options structure may be named.
            - Current liquidation dollars, market-wide and BTC-specific: UNKNOWN. The prior state's "voluntary exits, not a cascade" reading stays UNCONFIRMED.
            - Market-wide OI with a timestamp: UNKNOWN. The $42B-$43B cluster is undated.
            - FOMC Sep 16 consensus, dot-plot expectations, CME FedWatch odds: UNKNOWN. No search returned them.

            - The one story: no sourced news catalyst appeared in any of the three searches. HYPOTHESIS (all three): the oil-and-rates impulse explains BTC lagging a +21.6% month; no retrieved reporting confirms it.

            - Sharpe venue table OKX row $2.11B matches OBSERVED, lending that table some credibility [sharpe.ai, https://www.sharpe.ai/futures/bitcoin]. Held by A and C.
            - MarginPad's price ($64,259) and liquidation bands (~$62K-$65K) sit ~15-20% below spot: stale, do not use [marginpad.io, https://marginpad.io/coin/btc/]. Held by A and C.
            - Kraken PF_XBTUSD funding 43.2113% is not credible; venue row mislabeled [data.solariaworld.com, https://data.solariaworld.com/openinterest/BTCUSDT]. Held by C, undisputed.
            - No spot BTC ETF, stablecoin, exchange-flow, spot-volume, CVD or options data returned by any search [all three].

            DISPUTE
            - Market-wide OI total. A and B hold it UNKNOWN (sources conflict $16B-$46,000B). C argued for the $41.78B (trdesk) / $43.18B (CoinBoss) cluster on two-page agreement. B also cited $18.36B [quantority.com]. Ruling: C's cluster stands as the best estimate, but the pages carry no timestamp and scope is unverified, so it stays UNKNOWN for decision use. Losing claim: treating $43B as established.
            - Degree of damage to the prior thesis. A and B tag the funding leg WEAKENED; C says the thesis holds because 0.0062% is far below the 0.01% stand-down trigger. Ruling: both, separated. The direction (up) is a real change; the level (below trigger) does not yet break the range read. No conflict once split.
            - "The one story." B holds oil + rates as the story; A and C hold it UNKNOWN as a sourced news driver. Ruling: B's tension is OBSERVED and valid as an INFERRED candidate, but no retrieved reporting names a dominant catalyst, so no sourced story is established.
            - MarginPad 7d liquidations $228.6M / 24h $25.9M. B cites them; A and C reject as stale (anchored to $64k). Ruling: reject; do not use in the brief.

            how to read this

One fixed method writes every brief. Individual mode uses one researcher and skips peer positions and consolidation. In three-researcher mode, researchers read the web side by side, each takes a position on the others' notes, the first consolidates one agreed research document, then the writer compares it with the previous brief, drafts the account and checks it, with one editorial revision if needed. The thesis is a call, not a fact; the sections after it are the evidence for it, the evidence against it, and what would prove it wrong. Bracketed marks say how each claim is known: OBSERVED was measured, DERIVED was computed, INFERRED is an interpretation, HYPOTHESIS is unconfirmed, UNKNOWN could not be found. The tape at the top is what the page itself read seconds before the model was called. Anyone can contribute the next revision by connecting an OpenRouter key and pressing run; the models and the time are printed above. When a day has more than one revision, an area that changed says so when you hover it; click it to compare the previous version with this one.

            1. Mon Sep 21, 20264 revs · replacedBitcoin closed the week ended September 20 above its 50-week moving average, sited by reporting at $78,115, for the first time in 45 weeks, and trades near $85,900, while funding on both watched venues is positive per interval with OKX at a lower percentile of its 90-day distribution than the prior edition's single 8h print at the 89th. The Fed has hiked once with roughly even odds priced for October. The prior $76,500 to $78,300 range framing is retired by an explicit dated decision, not by a daily-close outcome, and the standing stance is spot only, with the ~$78,100 weekly average as the level to hold, no perp leverage, and the hawkish policy path as the main threat.
            2. Thu Sep 17, 20261 rev · replacedThe Fed delivered a hawkish quarter-point hike to 3.75%-4.00% with a higher 2026 median of 4.1, yet the 10-year is 4.95% and unchanged on the week and Bitcoin holds $76,500-$78,300, so the hike has not broken the range. The September 12 funding stand-down resolved on its reset branch rather than a confirming cross: OKX printed 0.0075% per 8h, below the strict 0.01% threshold the original criterion required, while market-wide open interest rebuilt about 4.8% to $66.72B on softer funding. Base case: the range persists, macro pressure builds slowly through rates and triple-digit oil, and the BOJ is the next scheduled test. Confidence moderate, cut by the absence of spot, options and market-wide funding data.
            3. Wed Sep 16, 20262 revs · weakenedBitcoin closed Wednesday below the $76,500 floor it had held since Sep 11, with the daily close not established in the supplied data, while the Sep 12 stand-down trigger faded from 0.01% to 0.0075% per 8h on OKX funding and the ten-year printed 5.01%, activating the binding macro branch that letter named. The FOMC outcome, due before this reading, was not retrieved, so every macro branch stays unresolved and no scenario is sized. The range call is weakened and cannot be graded as failed until a daily close is observed.
            4. Tue Sep 15, 20263 revs · weakenedThe September 12 funding trigger has reset (OKX 0.0058%, 59th percentile), removing the crowding risk, but Bitcoin has slipped below the $76,500 range floor into a tighter macro backdrop: 10-year at 5.00%, equities lower, dollar firmer, oil above $100. The range thesis is under test from below, and Wednesday's FOMC is the directional catalyst.
            5. Mon Sep 14, 20261 rev · weakenedBitcoin has pushed to $78,407, above the $78,300 range ceiling, but only intraday; the criterion requires a daily close. The OKX funding stand-down trigger that was touched at 0.01% per 8h on Sep 12 has faded to 0.0051%, and venue funding is no longer signalling crowding. The Fed on Wednesday remains the resolving event, with the 10-year at 4.97% and oil triple digits setting a headwind that neither haven flows nor dollar weakness are offsetting.
            6. Sun Sep 13, 20268 revs · weakenedBitcoin holds the $76,500 to $78,300 range into the Sep 16 Fed, but the prior crowding read has inverted: OKX funding fell from a touched 0.01% per 8h to 0.0041%, the 42nd percentile, so the stand-down trigger's hold branch is not met and the deck reads as decaying, not building. Hyperliquid's rent roughly doubled on matched intervals, leaving the two watched venues in disagreement. Macro does the heavy lifting instead: August CPI at 3.4%, a 10-year near 5%, oil up 11.9% on the week with no dated cause, and a policy rate unchanged at 3.63%, all under a Bitcoin that is up 21.6% on the month and flat on the day.
            7. Sat Sep 12, 20267 revs · unchangedBitcoin holds the $76,500 to $78,300 range into the Sep 16 Fed, a call that has survived every observed read since Sep 11. The crowding warning behind the buying pause has faded: OKX funding is back to 0.0049% per eight hours at its 90-day median, so the pause is lifted until funding re-congests above the trigger. The binding uncertainties are an unexplained $100 barrel, a 4.97% 10-year, and no spot, ETF, options or liquidation data to test whether real capital stands behind price.
            8. Fri Sep 11, 20264 revs · unchangedBitcoin stays inside the $76,500 to $78,300 range it failed to break on Sep 11, with leverage draining (OKX funding 0.0033% per 8h, the 36th percentile of 90 days; OKX open interest $2.09B, -1.9% on the week) and nothing resolving before the Sep 16 Fed decision. Moderate confidence.
